Blood Donation Campaign: Donate Blood, Give Life The Global Network for Rights and Development Youth Groups (YGGNRD) in Brazil and Hemosc organised an event to encourage blood donations on Tuesday, 29th July 2014. The campaign gave information about donations and donor profiles, and they offered advice about the importance of blood donation. The campaign serves many cities of Santa Catarina, since Hemosc distributes the collected blood to various hospitals in the region. This was the first time the YGGNRD in Brazil and Hemosc joined the campaign and future actions are already being discussed in order for this to become a permanent campaign. Aware of the importance of donating blood, YGGNRD-Brazil took the initiative to use this day to save lives. The event was organised in partnership with Hemosc in Peace Square in the city of Itapema. The amount of blood collected from each donor was about 450 ml, enough to help three to four people. As more people become aware of the importance of social responsibility, the power of volunteering and of the blood donation campaigns, the number of donors is expected to grow. The objective of the campaign was to raise awareness of the importance of blood donation. Residents not only of the city of Itapema, but also from several other cities attended the campaign in Peace Square and it is expected that countless lives will be saved as a result of donations collected just from this day. gnrd.net/seemore.php?id=469
