Bloomberg, (28/8) -- Japanese shares declined, with the Topix index heading for its lowest in two months, as the yen held gains against the dollar amid heightened concern over possible military action against Syria. Yokogawa Electric Corp., which got about 32 billion yen ($330 million) in sales from the Middle East last fiscal year, slumped 4.3 percent. Carmakers were the biggest drag on the Topix after the yen advanced the most in 2 1/2 months against the dollar yesterday. All of the gauge�s 33 groups retreated. The Topix lost 2.5 percent to 1,105.76 as of 12:53 p.m. in Tokyo, with just 57 shares advancing on the 1,706-member index. The measure is headed for its lowest close since June 27. The Nikkei 225 Stock Average sank 2.3 percent to 13,227.45, with futures traded in Osaka also falling 2.3 percent.
