Blue green algae. I hate blue green algae. I have a planted tank - TopicsExpress

Blue green algae. I hate blue green algae. I have a planted tank that is just killing me. I caused the problem by leaving for a weeks vacation a month after setting up the tank. I left it in the excellent care of my mother who didnt kill a single fish... Amazing! The only casualty was this tank. The timer on the lights malfunctioned while I was gone and, and the co2 defuser I was using was very much inadequate. The algae was so bad it plugged the canister filter and.... Ya it was disaster. But I fixed it. I got the filter back up and running, added a power head with the co2 supply going straight into it. I cut half the lights for a month and lowered the photo period down to eight hours. I have been doing 50% water changes twice a week and manually removing all algae. But it is covering most of the gravel by the time I remove it again. Co2 levels have been good, but no pearling. I recently turned the other lights on, and I had pearling on all stem plants and cryptocoryne in a matter of hours. Still nothing. So, whats the next step? I have read multiple conflicting reports... One suggesting hydrogen peroxide, one suggesting excel, one suggesting antibiotics. So what do you guys think?
