Boil advisory remains in effect Broken Arrow, Okla. (June 12, 2013) – The precautionary boil advisory is still in effect until further notice. Once the results of the tests are received and there are no negative impacts on the system, the advisory will be lifted. It is advised that the consumers of the Broken Arrow water system bring the water to full, rolling boil for at least one minute before consumption, food preparation, dish washing, tooth brushing, wound care and bathing infants who may ingest bath water. City Pools and splash pads will remain closed until the advisory is lifted. The Broken Arrow City Council approved Resolution No. 799 at its Emergency City Council Meeting today. In the resolution, it is stated use of outdoor water could result in a fine up to $500. Water customers should continue to conserve water until otherwise notified. Staff anticipated providing updates every 4 hours, but due to the substantial progress of water being returned to the system, staff feels an update at 6 a.m. tomorrow morning will be sufficient. However, if the situation warrants, immediate updates will be sent. Updates will be posted on the City’s website, brokenarrowok.gov. Summary on Storage System as of 6 p.m. • New Orleans (101st Street) storage tank is 64.8% full and rising. • Tiger Hill (71st Street) storage tanks are 91.2% full and to rising. • Battle Creek (51st Street) storage tank is 28.8% full and rising. Overall storage in the lower pressure plane system is 56.2% full. At this time yesterday, the system was less than 30% full and falling because demand on system exceeded the available flow.
