Bomb Blast: Conference Condoles with the People of Jos The National Conference has condoled with the people of Plateau State over the loss of lives in the bomb blast that occurred in their city on Tuesday. Conference also urges the government to take a more proactive action to stem the tide of insurgency across the nation. Citing Order 7, Rule 5 which deals with matters of national importance, General Jonathan Temlong, an Elder Stateman from Plateau State, raised a Point of Order. Citing Order 7, Rule 5 he informed the conference about the bombing that occurred yesterday in a market in Jos. He therefore moved that the conference should: 1. Observe a minute silence. 2. Condemn the terrorist act and send a condolence letter to the people of Plateau state and Mr. President. 3. Urge that a more proactive action should be taken to stem the tide of insurgency across the nation. General Temlong’s motion was seconded by Mallam Nasseru Kura. In contributing to the motion, a delegate from the South East, Chief Goddy Uwazurike, said “that injury or death to one wherever, howsoever affects all of us. Delegates that have come from different constituencies should rise up and condemn it.” He urged delegates to rise in one voice and condemn the dastardly act. Thereafter, the conference stood for a minute silence in honour of those killed in yesterday’s blast.
