Bonjour ! Alors, la semaine dernière, nous avons vu les différents termes liés au vocabulaire de la famille auxquels nous avons ajouté des expressions de la vie quotidienne. Cette semaine, nous allons refaire une petite promenade en ville ! Ces promenades sortent l’Anglais dans la rue ! Cela permet aux enfants d’ancrer l’apprentissage de la langue dans le réel. Ces promenades sont également autant d’occasion de décrire tout ce que l’on voit : houses, river, bridge, shops… et de découvrir le nom des magasins et les métiers qui y sont liés : baker, hairdresser, florist… Vous savez que j’aime le « recyclage » de mots, alors cette semaine, nous allons jouer au jeu des 7 familles : « happy families » pour que les enfants parlent un maximum in English ! « In the ….family, I would like the … » : « In the COBBLER’s family, I would like the SON » Nous avons la famille baker (boulanger), la famille cobbler (cordonnier), la famille fishmonger (poissonnier), la famille hairdresser (coiffeur), la famille cheesemonger (fromager), la famille florist (fleuriste) et la famille butcher (boucher). Les enfants associent les mots aux dessins. Ils n’écrivent pas en Français. Quand, je prononce un mot, c’est l’image qui apparaît. Le thème de la famille va nous amener à élargir le vocabulaire à tous les mots associés aux métiers de l’entourage des enfants mais également les métiers qu’ils rêveraient d’exercer plus tard. Exemple avec baker : bakery, to bake.. mais aussi d’appréhender des éléments de la grammaire comme « le fils du boucher », « la grand-mère du coiffeur »…(the butcher’s son …) Hello! Well, then, last week we looked at the various words to do with the family, adding to that certain everyday expressions. So, this week we’re going to take a little stroll around the town! These little walks are a way to get English out on the street! It’s a way to consolidate children’s language-learning in the real. They are also an opportunity to describe, during the walk, everything one sees: houses, the river, a bridge, shops… and to discover the shops and the trades and professions linked to them: the baker(‘s), the hairdresser(‘s), the florist(‘s)… You know how I love ‘recycling’ words; so this week we’re going to play ‘Happy families’ so the children will have the chance to speak a maximum in English! ‘In the (X, Y, Z…Trade/Profession) family , I would like the …(name of family member)’ There’s the baker’s family, the cobbler’s, the fishmonger’s, the hairdresser’s, the cheesemonger’s, the florist’s and the butcher’s family – all three generations! The children associate the words with the drawings. They don’t write it in French at all. When I say a word in English, it’s the image that comes up. This theme will lead us the way to broadening the vocabulary for all those words associated with trades and professions and work in the children’s own family circle but, equally,the jobs they dream of doing when they’re grown up. An example with ‘Baker’: bakery, to bake, the baker’s (shop)...but, also, a way to learn those grammatical elements like ‘the butcher’s son’, ‘the hairdresser’s grandmother’
