Bonjour page mauricien, ki maniere?? As you noticed this week, there were articles about young dentists who took part in a written exam to have their registrations. Only 2 out of 11 passed the exam. This was actually a record. Because in the October 2013 and March 2014 previous sessions of this dental written examination, the fail rate was 100% for both sessions. In the March 2014 session there was a french dentist who participated to that exam. She was formed and got her diploma from France. She also failed that exam. Being a candidate of the October 2014 batch, i can tell you that this examination is nearly impossible to pass. Not only ALL the questions are tricked but most of them are irrelevant to clinical dentistry. example: Choose one answer. 1. What is/are the best preventive measures to prevent caries in children? A- Fluorisation of water B- regular check up at the dentist C- Preventing children from eating sweets all day long D- ALL of the above Well, i would opt for the last option, since ALL the variants are correct. The correct answer is A- Fluorisation of water. Since this paper is prepared in India, the questions and answers are applicable to India and indians only as in Mauritius we DO NOT do fluorisation of water. Instead we use toothpastes containing Fluoride. Such a question is inappropriate to us. An example of Indian post graduate past exam question. Which syndrome had the President Abraham Lincoln? A- Melkerson-Rosenthal Syndrome B- Marfan Syndrome C-Down Syndrome D- None of the above. The answer is B- Marfan Syndrome. Marfan syndrome (also called Marfans syndrome) is a genetic disorder of human connective tissue. It has various expressions ranging from mild to severe: the most serious complications are defects of the heart valves and aorta, which often lead to early death. The syndrome also may affect the lungs, eyes, dural sac surrounding the spinal cord, and the skeleton. People with Marfan tend to be unusually tall, with long limbs and long, thin fingers and toes. Any link to dentistry??? Judge by yourself. So no one passed that Indian made exams except two candidates. Those two candidates are close to the president of dental council. One of them is the nephew (son of the sister of the president of dental council). The other one knew deliberately she would pass her exam before even finishing her studies according to a source. How come??? Most important points i wanted to clarify; as the press reported that, we do not have HSC and this is the reason why we failed. Des dentistes recales nont meme pas reussi le HSC. This is totally untrue. EACH AND EVERY SINGLE CANDIDATE of the October 2014 batch ARE HSC or International Baccalaureat (IB) holders WITH 3 A LEVELS!! We are ex-students from Dr Maurice Cure SSS, John Kennedy College, Sookdeo ,Bissoondoyal SSS, RajkumarGudjadhur SSS,Le Bocage International School and Royal College of Portlouis naming a few. Some of us have governmental Scholarships from the Ministry of Education of Mauritius. According to us, this exam was made to prevent young dentists to get the dental registration hence not to practice as the quantity of dentists is already high in Mauritius. Last but not least, in 2013 the dental council act was amended to bring the written examination. But we people went to study in 2008 and 2009 well before the amendment. Hence there should be a moratorium of 5 years before enforcing this law. So this exam should NOT beAPPLICABLE to candidates who registered before 2018!! Please help us to make justice. we were treated by all kind of words on facebook! We would be grateful if you could share this link from today (08 Nov 2014) of Le Mauricien to your mauricien site to change the mindset of the public who thinks that we do not have the HSC as mentioned some days back... Thank you in Advance, 9 candidates who failed but seeking for justice. Neuf Candidats
