WORD Today 10/12/14 Is 25:6-10 Phil 4:12-14, 19-20 Mt 22:1-14 Behold, my banquet is ready... Come to the wedding feast! -Mt 22:4 It is the Lords Day. The Lord of Heaven and Earth invites us to the most fabulous wedding of all, the Wedding of His Son at the Holy Mass. We are not invited simply as spectators but to be the bride - a member of the Church. Everyone is invited but many refuse, too busy with livelihood or leisure (v. 5). Some even attack & insult the messenger (v. 6). At them, the King was angry. (v. 7) Others do come to the Lords Table but are not dressed in wedding clothes; they are ejected (v. 11-13). The no-need-to-confess and the I-like-this-teaching-but-not-that Catholics do not please the King. Many are called but few are chosen. (v. 14) Gods invitation is not a blanket approval of all lifestyles, so let us put on Christ (Gal 3:27), wear His life, and have a happy Lords Day!
