Bonjour, peeps! Right away the universes plans trumped mine. Good thing Ive learned to step aside + get out of my own way when that happens. And to appreciate it. I was the last one off the shuttle, about two hours after landing in Paris. I was fine with the captive dash around the city. I listened in on a few French conversations + happily had a clue. Eavesdropping has a positive side. Ive been talking in bits + pieces with some hesitation. Ill pray for fearless speech when I attend mass later in Chartres...the first of four spiritual side trips well be taking. I met the lady whose studio I am staying in. Frédérike is awesome in every way, which makes me feel much better about staying outside a hotel situation. Stuff like who else has a key crossed my mind + now I have peace of mind about the whole thing. The studio is parfait! Im on the 5th floor of a building that was built in 1627 as a convent. My window overlooks an active convent + its beautiful garden. And theres no elevator so my Fitbit will be showing some big numbers between the stairs + all the miles Ill be walking every day. Jadore Paris! Thank goodness Frédérikes adorable neighbor was leaving as we were ascending. Merci for lugging my suitcase up, monsieur! I was warned about the stairs + the size of the room. Actually its perfect. The wee piece of purple fleur in the courtyard told me that my dad approved, too. Its like a sweet cocoon with a mini kitchen + bath. The energy is up up up. And its super quiet here. The whole neighborhood vibrates at a high level in peace. Im on a street that connects two more popular rues...like an oasis of bliss amongst activity. Just what the doc ordered. As you can see from the photos, its very charming. The furniture is antique, as is some of the decor, including a little angel who is broken but arent we all in some way? The pic of wood is an open beam in the salle de bain. Its stunning if you like that kind of stuff which I surely do. The older the better except when it comes to fromage. Frédérike was so apologetic when she opened the fridge, hoping that the reminder of the previous boarders prezzie of stinky cheese disappeared. Uh. No. But everything else is better than expected. Thats why its best not to expect anything, just accept, knowing that youre getting exactly what you need + usually more than want. Lifes magical that way. Whats a little toxic cheese air, right? Right! Another surprise the universe had for me was a body crash as in being called to the bed to see how it felt + then automatically falling asleep for around five hours! It was dark when I woke up except for the full moon glow in the window. I opened the window + was greeted by brisk air...59 degrees. Heaven on earth. I unpacked + otherwise settled in, still pinching myself...+ not to stay awake, but to prove that Im not dreaming. But I am. Big time. Breakthrough ahead. I know it. And I also know that Im sleepy again, so off to dreamland. Im so glad to be sharing this adventure with you. Well be taking a train to Chartres before noon for an overnighter. Super special ahead!
