Boob Scoop: When planning for your return back to work, it is not - TopicsExpress

Boob Scoop: When planning for your return back to work, it is not a must to have tons of milk saved in your freezer. In fact, the only day you really need to plan for is your first day back at work. You can do this by pumping after a morning feeding and storing small amounts along the way. (After the first month, babies drink about 1 oz per hour, so this can help you figure out how much you need to store). For peace of mind, and to ease the transition back to work, you may wish to save enough for 2-3 full work days, until you get a better sense of how much your baby is drinking. Once you are back at work, pumping will not only help you collect the milk your baby will drink the next day but also gives your breasts the needed stimulation to maintain milk supply. -Sharen Medrano, Yummy Mummy Support Group IBCLC (nycbreastfeeding) yummymummystore/blog/
