Books, Boats and Brigitte Bardot Week-End Events in Southern France On Friday and Saturday Yana and I attended the Festival du Livre de Ville De Mouans Sartoux. Sea Shepherd France sold every piece of merchandise they had at the Festival and Lamya Essemlali and I signed over 200 copies of Entretien Avec Un Pirate (Her book, Interview with a Pirate.) We also gave two presentations to full capacity crowds and numerous interviews with the media. On Friday evening we attended a wonderful vegan dinner with Sea Shepherd volunteers at the Bijoux Plage hosted by Nathalie Diffoto in Cannes and on Saturday we joined Sea Shepherd France volunteers for another wonderful dinner hosted by Lionel Durand at his restaurant Pasta Brulot in Antibes. On Sunday we visited some dear friends and supporters in Monaco in the morning and on to St. Tropez to meet with Brigitte Bardot where she told us how happy she was to finally visit the vessel that bears her name when it was berthed in St. Tropez for her 80th Birthday two weeks ago. Brigitte Bardots visit to the boat was her first public appearance in ten years. That evening we much appreciated the complimentary vegan Indian meal at the Gandhi restaurant on the waterfront of St. Tropez on Sunday Evening. Later Yana and I took the opportunity to visit some of the incredible sailing ships moored on the waterfront of St. Tropez. On Monday morning Yana and I visited the crew of the “Brigitte Bardot” in la Seyne-sur-Mer. The “Brigitte Bardot” will be departing for Sicily tomorrow to work with Operation Siracusa to oppose poaching in Sicilian marine reserves. Over a thousand visitors came to see the “Brigitte Bardot” in la Seyne-sur-Mer and the crew sold all the Sea Shepherd merchandise they had in addition to much appreciated donations. A very special thank-you to Marine Blancher and Stephane Thubert for the use of their apartment in Cannes and to Lionel, Samy, Laurent and Brian for driving us between Monaco and Cannes and St. Tropez and Seyne-sur-Mer. It was exciting to see so much passion and support from Sea Shepherd volunteers and supporters in Southern France. This evening we are attending a soiree in Paris for volunteers returning from Operation Grindstop 2014 in the Faroe Islands. Photos: 1. People lining up for signed copies Entretien Avec Un Pirate 2.
