An encouraging note is a number of new drivers both in the TQ’s and the Slingshots are planning on giving Borgers a try during OctoberFest.” Promoter Bob Snyder, “Borgers Speedway’s effort to combine the TQ and Asphalt 600 Sprints is working. While Brandon Azzalina, Larry Hoagland, and Kurt Bettler each have two wins in 600’s, Mike Tidaback also has two wins in a TQ but Tidaback has been consistently turning faster lap times with his TQ then the 600’s. Tim Iulg and Geoffrey Sutton also have TQ wins this season.” O’Connor added “we believe the magic number is twelve. When we reach that number on a regular basis drivers will start bringing cars out of the garages that have been sitting since the past indoor season. The TQ and 600 racers want and need a track that is centrally located with a quality show and we can give that to them on a weekly basis without the need to travel hundreds of miles.” Richie Smith’s Stage One Modifieds which were scheduled to make their Borgers Asphalt debut will be back for the OctoberFest Series. Next Saturday August 30 will feature a full car of TQ/Asphalt 600 Sprints, Allstar and Junior Slingshots, Karts, and MicroStocks. Heading the card will be $250 to win for the Junior Sportsman Champ Karts and Clone Wars Round 5.
