Boris Borisov, a former deputy foreign minister of the Donetsk - TopicsExpress

Boris Borisov, a former deputy foreign minister of the Donetsk Peoples Republic, recounts some of the political struggles in Donetsk. The republic and its uprising against the Nazi-oligarchic regime in Kiev was originally led by socialist and leftist aspirations. In response to this, Moscow sent there a group of advisers led by Boroday who, from mid-May, began systematically removing this pro-socialist threat. This has been done by means of repressions, intimidation and money. A number of deputies of the Supreme Soviet were arrested at will. The peoples/pro-socialist character was finally suppressed by the end of July and in August when Moscow started preparing the ground (and the new leadership freed from Strelkov) for the Mins Deal. Oligarchic interest sanctioned and supported by Moscow is now fully in control of the republic, which can no longer be called peoples. This, however, also means that Zakharchenko and the new clique does not have support among the people of Donbass. Most current deputies in the Supreme Soviet are still left-leaning, but they were rendered powerless and helpless. The new elections are to replace them with oligarchic stooges. The new constitution posted on the website of the Supreme Soviet was never discussed or voted on by the deputies. It is a pure fiat delivered from Moscow. It gives full powers to the head of the republic for which Zakharchenko has been earmarked. Borisov also said that, in his view, no one in the world either noticed or supported the socialist/peoples character and earning of the republic. No support came from anyone in the world, whether from the few states that still call themselves socialist or from workers movements and parties. This indicates, he said, that the international workers movement is dead. It is a corpse. Russian oligarchy recaptured power in Donetsk. - Vladimir Suchan
