Born today Andy Warhol ( August 6, 1928 – 1987) was a leading figure in the visual art movement known as pop art. His works explored the relationship between artistic expression, celebrity culture and advertisement that flourished by the 1960s. Related to rock... in the mid-1960s, Warhol adopted The Velvet Underground, making them a crucial element of his multimedia performance art show. He acted as the bands manager, introducing them to Nico (who would perform with the band at Warhols request) and in 1966 he produced their first album The Velvet Underground & Nico, as well as providing its famous banana album art. He designed few other famous covers, including Rolling Stones Sticky Fingers and Love You Live....
