Boston Terrier Rescue of Alabama William Shakespearect 17 at 11:55 PM BTRA urgently needs your financial help. To date, donations total $375.00. While all donations are appreciated, you can see from the breakdown of the vetting costs of each dog that we need your help. These six (6) doggies must be vetted in order to go forward in finding each a forever home. BTRA strives to insure that prior to any adoption, each Boston/Frenchie is spayed/neutered, completely up to date on vaccinations/rabies, teeth cleaned and any other physical need addressed. As an animal parent/lover, you would not want anything less for your doggie. I am personally asking each of you to search deep in your heart and see if you can financially help. The two (2) Boston boys and one (1) French bulldog boy are scheduled to be neutered on 10/22/13. BTRA must have the funds available prior to 10/22/13. Our veterinarian is wonderful in giving us a much appreciated discount, but he has a business to operate; therefore, we must be able to pay for the services provided. BTRA depends on our friends and benefactors for our financial needs. While we are applying for grants, at the present time our only source of funding is YOU. Thank you for any and all help that you are able to give. You will be blessed knowing that you have contributed to the care and welfare of these “puppy mill” rescues. Each one is making giant strides in socialization, housetraining and best of all trusting the human race again. Helen Keller once said “Never bend your head. Hold it high. Look the world straight in the eye.” While it is not easy for me to ask for help, I am humbly holding my head high in asking for your financial help for our rescue efforts. These sweet ones cannot ask for themselves, they are depending on me to be their voice. BOSTON TERRIER/FRENCH BULLDOG RESCUE OF ALABAMA NEEDS YOU AND YOUR FINANCIAL HELP Boston Terrier/French Bulldog Rescue of Alabama wants to thank our friends and benefactors for their recent donations to save the Missouri “puppy mill” dogs. Although, I did not come close to our goal of $25,000.00, I decided to travel to the auction in Missouri to save whatever number I could. This decision was partly made because Chicago French Bulldog Rescue offered to assist by giving us some of the French bulldogs that they were able to rescue. One of the selling breeders pulled his dogs from the auction because there was a family illness and he could not get his dogs transported to Missouri. As it turned out, BTRA was able to save two (2) Boston terriers (another rescue wanted to save the only other BT there) and one (1) French bulldog. Chicago French Bulldog Rescue let us have three (3) French bulldogs. In total, BTRA came home with six (6) dogs that will no longer be just a commodity for the commercial breeding industry. These sweet ones have had to live in a cage all of their lives. They have not been allowed to run and play or be on the ground. Their paws are extremely calloused, worn down and one of the females has an infected toe. The three female frenchies have had numerous c-sections to deliver their puppies and one also has evidence of scares where she appears to have been attacked by another dog. Danielle Danielle Gabrielle Gabrielle Gabrielle Jacqueline Pork Chop Pork Chop Bain Dalton The wonderful news is that they all are safe now. They are learning what it means to have clean food, clean water, clean bedding and best of all human care and love. When a rescue commits to any animal, it should be a life time commitment. At the time of rescue, you never know the physical or emotional condition of the dog. You do not know if they can be “fixed” enough for adoption-if not the rescue should be willing to keep the dog for the remainder of their life span-BTRA does. BTRA has made the commitment to these deserving Bostons and Frenchies. Now it is time to have them spayed/neutered, vaccinated, tested for heartworms, fecal exams done, de-wormed, teeth cleaned and have their nares/soft palettes repaired. Any rescue effort is a very expensive undertaking. As a fellow animal lover and parent, you must be very aware of the costs of proper vetting and care. My heart knows that BTRA did the right thing in going to this auction and saving the six (6) dogs that we were able to financially afford. No dog deserves to be considered and treated as a “commodity”, never loved, never being allowed to run and play, never getting the human contact and nurturing that they need and deserve. Their only purposes in life prior to rescue-HAVE PUPPIES AND THEN HAVE MORE PUPPIES. We need your financial help to pay the veterinary costs. Below is a cost breakout of the needed procedures. Spay $250.00 Neuter $200.00 Heartworm test $ 35.00 Dental $160.00 3 Yr. Rabies $ 39.00 Distemper/Parvo $ 25.00 Fecal Exam $ 20.00 Nare surgery $125.00 (if done at the time of the spay/neuter) This will be at least $654.00 for each female and $605.00 for each male totaling $3,774.00. If any are heartworm positive, the cost of treatment is usually $400.00 per dog. BTRA does not know the extent of the older Boston’s physical problem in his testicular area and until tests are done we cannot estimate the costs for his treatment. Again, I am asking each of you to look deep in your heart and evaluate your financial situation at the present time. If at all possible, open your hearts, wallets, or credit cards to make a donation that is desperately needed for these sweet babies’ veterinary bill. All donations are tax deductible. BTRA will be very grateful for all donations, large or small, and every penny will be used for the expenses that will be incurred in saving these deserving –breeder free- Bostons and Frenchies. BTRA has no paid staff and no overhead costs-ALL donations go directly to the dogs’ needs. Thank you in advance for everything that you continue to do for our rescue efforts. We cannot do anything without each and every one of you. Please see below how you can make your tax deductible donation. Sincerely, Jo-Ellyn G.
