Both Peter and John experienced persecution from the greatest threat. The threat of religion. The religious leaders threaten to kill them if they were to continue to preach the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Today, dry dead religion continues to threaten those who preach the message of the risen Savior and that He is the same today, yesterday and forever. This religion is not just those in the Moslem, or Hindu faith but even some of those in the traditional Church. Through vain empty traditions and leaning on their own understanding, they have chosen to believe that God’s power to change a man’s heart, soul and body has diminished. They have settled to believe that salvation is only about changing ones outward behavior and accepting a new set of rules rather than believing that Jesus died so that we might be forgiven, and that He arose from the dead so that we can be born again, and that He sent His spirit so that we can live this life with power.
