Boys and girls.... its Pet Peeve time!! Okay.... I cant for the LIFE of me understand why when I give someone the APPROPRIATE weight for strength training ..it makes me mean! HUH??? Listen please.... if I watch you and you are slinging around a 12 lb. bar doing bicep curls (I do a 45 lb. bar) and change you to a heavier weight I am HELPING you! Strength training to be effective....meaning to activate muscle fibers NOT build BIG muscles... you have to achieve muscle failure! Its not a MEAN thing... yes...for me it is a FRUSTRATING thing because we preach and preach about strength training being the biggest tool in weight loss and yet STILL we cant get people to do it!! GRRRRRRR..... not building body builders... building fat burning bodies! PLEASE trust us....we are professionals! Look at any success story in ANY magazine! That person that lost that weight and had a MAJOR transformation...all of them...do strength training! Super DUPER important!!!!! agggghhhhh!!! To lose weight: #1 Its 85-90% nutrition!! Exercise facilitates weight loss and makes the body stronger, MUCH healthier (think bone density for one), and look better but its NOT the key component in weight loss! Your NUTRITION is what will mostly help you lose weight!!! #2 Strength training prioritzes muscle fibers- THAT makes you effectively burn more fuel at rest! Dont understand this??? Think of a body builder and how many calories they have to consume to maintain size??? STILL dont understand...just trust us...you HAVE to strength train!!!!!! #3 Cardio- yep...its number 3! Im tired- Linda
