Brad Kirsch writes: “We now have a serious debate not as partisans but as Americans. I think the headline in this article does a great disservice to our nation. It may be consistent with the current inane standards of modern journalism to make trite that which is very serious, but I think it is time for us to all get a reality check on just what is going on here without the partisan stupidity that has led our nation into gridlock. Partisan political divides are better put to rest whenever our nation considers the serious issues of war, peace or any action involving the killing or ‘collateral damages’ where innocents of any country can be affected further by our actions. We can’t get our various 50 states to act in accord and many among us arm in fear of chaos. We should guard against other artificial divides such as making war decisions on partisan rather than on national interests in world trade and commerce. Thus, we now have a serious debate and the President should not be put into the position of being criticized for his making the debate about actions in the Syrian Civil War a matter of public commentary. The only thing I am sure of is that on the right and the left American Citizens are taking this matter much more seriously when their representatives do have a say. While I disagree with President Obama’s original position about getting us into this matter, I applaud his move to make this decision a public matter of concern.” huffingtonpost/2013/09/07/democrats-syria-strike_n_3885713.html?utm_hp_ref=fb&src=sp&comm_ref=false#sb=768633b=facebook
