[Branded as a unique curtain raiser event of an investment campaign “#CrossroadsKP” was held on Friday 27th June 2014. On this occasion the investment potential of #KhyberPakhtunkhwa in various sectors was showcased before a diverse gathering which included ambassadors, and national and foreign investors. The event was organised by the Insaf Professional Forum KP (IPF), FPCCI, #SAARC Chamber with the support from Government of KP and was sponsored through Economic Revitalization of KP and FATA (ERKF)] Photos | goo.gl/gnjGYs The keynote speakers during the conference highlighted the potentials for #investment, particularly in #Energy, #Minerals, #Tourism and Industrial sectors in the province, which is located on the world famous crossroads of cultures, trade, transit and civilizations. On their part, the representatives of the government of KP assured the investors of their resolve and commitment to facilitate investments. Speaking on the occasion the main host Mr. Atif Khan, Minister for #Education, declared that the #PTI government and its coalition partners are determined to tackle the menace of corruption with an iron fist. He stated that the current provincial government has allocated Rs. 950 million for technical education and vocational training activities. Thus in near future KP will have more skilled force and trained professionals to serve multiple needs of business ventures. Mr. Asad Qaiser, Speaker KP Provincial Assembly in his remarks as Chief Guest reiterated that KP is a heaven for investors and invited the business community to come and get benefits of its potentials. Adorned with publicity banners inscribed with slogans accentuating KP’s rich legacy such as “Where History meets the Future” and “Eventful Past Prosperous Future”, the event was attended by dignitaries including ambassadors of all the SAARC countries and also from Russia, Turkmenistan, Germany and Afghanistan etc. They showed keen interest in the conference proceedings and suggested to further synergize the reforms regarding sustainable investments in the coming times for KP. Meanwhile, investors from Middle Eastern countries and Canada met with local private sector investors and government officials and assured that they will find partnerships and bring back the much needed investments into the region. Those who made presentations included Imran Shahzad President IPF, Adnan Jalil President KP FPCCI, Nauman Wazir head TEVTA, Mohsin Aziz head KPBOIT, Zahid Shinwari, President Sarhad Chamber, Mr Raziuddin CEO KP Oil & Gas Co. and Mr Fuzail Siddiqi a world-renowned mineralogist. The speakers said that the recent discovery of massive oil reserves in KP promised a change of fortune for a region that has been ravaged by conflict for the last 3 decades. They revealed that the province makes 40-50 thousand megawatts of electricity. Moreover, investment in hydel energy in KP had the potential to yield 70% to 80% more profit rates compared to other provinces. They shared success stories of local businesses and entrepreneurs which belied the myth that economic activity in KP might be a challenge. A number of tourism projects with potential of attracting investments were also announced. Crossroads KP turned out to be a well organized curtain raiser with an impressive guest turn out. It was witnessed for the first time that all the trade chambers that are usually at logger heads with each other set aside their differences for the sake of ‘One KP’. It was announced that a one-window solution will be introduced for investors to get their businesses registered. Moreover, an investment conference on a much bigger scale will be organized in Peshawar within the coming three months. This will be followed by trade conferences under the Crossroads KP banner in Sialkot, Faisalabad and Lahore nationally and Dubai and Kabul internationally
