Brandi - May she know she is forever loved and will never be forgotten. Miss Brandi was brought into the shelter as a stray emaciated pregnant girl. It was obvious she had been running the streets for awhile with no care. The shelter staff put her in a kennel with several other dogs. She was NOT dog aggressive at that time.. She became dog and food aggressive as she became more pregnant. I dont think they ever removed her from that kennel with the dogs to have her puppies. They just throw food on the shelter floor so she had to compete with several other dogs to eat what she did get to eat daily. Floss and I think that the puppies likely did not die but were probably killed by the other dogs. It just breaks my heart that she had to stand by and watch this happen to her babies. So it is no wonder she is scared and dog aggressive. I am sure she is still so traumatized by this experience and it is just going to take her some time and a little training to regain her trust. January 14, 2014 The plea to save Brandis life went out: This little girl is pregnant and is still in need of rescue ASAP! She has no chance of getting out of this shelter alive. The shelter staff says that this little girl came into the shelter a sweet girl. As she comes closer to giving birth to her puppies, she has become food aggressive. SHE IS ALSO IN A KENNEL WITH SEVERAL OTHER DOGS and she is about to give birth!!! February 1: This sweet girl had her puppies at the end of last week (around January 31, 2014). She is STILL in the shelter in a kennel with other dogs and REALLY NEEDS to get out. February 3: Ok, checked on the pittie momma today and now she is down to only one puppy. :( Im not sure what is going on or if it will make it at this point, but they still need out now. Denkai Steps up and Commits to taking her upon hearing the news. Melanie Weaver goes to bat for this sweet girl and makes magic happen to get her out of Arkansas: I HAVE RESCUE FOR THIS SWEET Mama and her puppy in Colorado (LOOK at her sweet picture below). I have a great transport for her back to Denver via Wichita Falls TX so I am looking for someone in the PINE BLUFFs Arkansas area who can drive this mama and her puppy to Wichita Falls. It is about a 7.5 hour drive. I will pay for the gas and a motel room if wanted. Mama needs to be in Wichita Falls, TX on Thursday (Feb 13th) or Saturday (Feb 15th) BEFORE NOON. If you can help with this transport PLEASE contact me February 13, Brandi is out of the Arkansas Shelter and on her way to recovery: Mama (Now Brandi) went to the vet this morning and got her vaccinations and health certificate! Everyone at the vet clinic, including the vet, thinks she is a super girl! They said she was a very sweet and good girl and was very cooperative during her examination. Michael, the rescuer/shelter volunteer who has been looking over Mama Brandi these past few weeks, will be putting Brandi on a transport Saturday morning. Lisa Lutz is picking up Mama Brandi and taking her to Ani-Pals to stay until she can get a ride to Denkai in Denver on the C.A.R.E. transport. She has a very excited foster family waiting for her! It took a village but Brandi is almost home! I really want to say thank you to Michael in Pine Bluff AR who is overwhelmed but kept Brandi safe until we could get her out, to Floss the founder of Denkai who is taking Mama Brandi into her program and who will find her a loving home, to C.A.R.E. (Linda and Lisa) for always being there to get these babies where they need to go, to Lisa Lutz for taking time out of her busy schedule to pick up Mama from the transport and getting her to Ani-Pals, to Susan V. for letting her stay at her most awesome boarding and daycare facility, to Crystal at Winding River who does EVERYTHING for everybody for her kind offer to be back up for a number of things, to Andrea, Wyvonnia, and Cyndi for their generous donations to help with the care of Mama Brandi until she goes to her new home and to everyone that posted and networked to get Mama out of the shelter. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! Brandi was blessed to get to an incredible foster home with Heather and family for a short time. After a while she even adjusted to their dog Coco and they were wonderful to her! When they could no longer keep her, our founder took Brandi in and when it was determined that Brandi would indeed be a hard placement because of the trauma she endured at the Arkansas Shelter, Floss Adopted her permanently. She became fast friends with Duchess and the two of them never left each other for long. Brandi was in incredible, intuitive, kind and caring dog. She was always more worried about how her person was feeling and was an incredible cuddler and hugger. Today was a heartbreaking day. Our veterinarian is working to determine what happened, but it seems as though she went into heart or liver failure. Her belly was filling with fluid and she was in tremendous pain. This came on quickly and she was with our vet all day today as we worked to determine what was going on with her. Sadly we had to make the humane decision for her to put her out of her suffering as she was not recoverable. This has been a very hard week on all of us and another heartbreaking decision for one of the most amazing dogs that has crossed our path. Please take a moment to hug your babies and let them know they are safe and loved. Life is so short and can change so quickly. https://facebook/video.php?v=758544550860108
