Brandi Asks Hi! My daughter is 3 weeks old today. Shes my 2nd baby. She gave me cracked, bleeding nipples in the hospital because she wasnt keeping my latch. She fell asleep at the breast early into feedings because she was jaundiced. I was told to supplement by the dr at a week because shed lost up to 10% body weight. I am getting about 1.5-2 oz of milk every 2-3 hours at 3 weeks, but my daughter is feeding 3 oz every 3 hours. I am taking Fenugreek 3x daily, pumping as much as possible, trying to get her back on the breast exclusively. She has nipple confusion since weve introduced the bottle for supplementing & Ive had to use a nipple shield. The lactation consultant gave me suck training exercises to do with her. Whats the fastest & most effective way to increase my supply? How much milk should I be pumping at 3 weeks? How long will it take for my supply to increase? I feel like by the time I try to nurse, then feed with bottle, then pump, then clean/rinse the parts, I have no time for my other 3 year old daughter or myself. Whatre your thoughts on an at-breast supplementer? She doesnt keep a latch when she does get on the breast. I dont know what to do.
