Brandon Pallares: I love stories like this. Last year, this young man broke a 120 year HISD history by becoming the first Hispanic to be appointed as drum major at a predominantly black school. The school was once known as Colored High School and is now known as Booker T. Washington High School. Get this! Before he joined the band in his Freshman year, he had no prior band experience. By his Sophomore year he was named the schools drum major. What am inspiration to other groundbreaking youngsters. I had the honor of watching him in the MLK Parade this morning. He is one talented young man. Diversity is key. I believe Dr. King would have been proud to see this young man march in his honor. Oh, and how about this? Honor roll baby! I saw Brandon after the parade and I was actually shaking. It was like Id seen a rock star for real. I wanted to take a photo with him but I was too shy to ask. Anyway, I love a great story that involves our children. I dont care was race, creed, or color they are. CONGRATULATIONS BRANDON.
