Break Enter and Steal - LETS UNITE AGAINST THEM Many of the police at the Hills Local Area Command are also residents in the area. We are incensed at the number of Break Enter and Steal offences in the area especially when our families are put at risk by these individuals committing the offences during the night whilst the occupants sleep. A trend for thieves at the moment is to target the double storey house entering the house through a rear or side door. Once inside they take handbags, wallets and jewellery and on some occasions the keys to the car and the car itself. On the evening of 30 June 2013 and the morning of 1 July 2013 a Break and Enter occurred at Hadley Crt, Beaumont Hills. This was despite our patrols. They opened a ground floor rear door by unknown means and when inside took a wallet, handbag, Ipad and Iphone before leaving the premises. Police have forensically examined the scene and a canvass has been performed. The occupants did not hear or see anything. The neighbours did not report seeing anything. Who are these people committing these offences! Looking at the offences over the last few years and those charged it is clear to see that most offenders are residing in suburbs west of the Hills. They travel to The Hills for more lucrative rewards for their crimes. What can we do. Police are patrolling the areas when they can and ensuring that all scenes are forensically examined. Many years ago police had tremendous results with Neighbourhood Watch. This saw a reduction in the offences. The Hills Facebook site can give us those extra thousands of eyes and ears that we need to respond to these types of offenders. We do not ask that you approach any of these offenders just report the incidents and your suspicions to us. We will commit to giving you more detailed and timely information to you if you in turn can make sure your fellow residents are aware of this site. Share the information and ask them to merely "like" the Hills Facebook page and they also will receive the updates. Gary Bailey Crime Manager
