Breaking News: A grand jury in New York decided not to indict police Officer Daniel Pantaleo in the July chokehold death of Eric Garner, an unarmed man who did NOT attack police. If ever there was a legitimate cases of excessive police force, this is one that Americans should unite to oppose- in the interest of justice for all. . New York City Police allegedly suspected Eric Garner, a 43-year-old father of six, was illegally selling cigarettes on July 17 when police officers tackled him and put him in a chokehold. (See: usatoday/story/news/nation/2014/12/03/chokehold-grand-jury/19804577/) Police said he had been resisting arrest. The citys medical examiner ruled the death a homicide. Garner can be seen in a video saying he can’t breathe. He is later pronounced dead at a local hospital. There is no doubt in my mind that there is a crisis in some departments with police brutality that must be addressed. N.Y.s police departments have been notorious for this for decades. I pray this does not result in more division along ethnic/cultural lines but that true Christians will obey the Word of God: Let your mouth be open, judging rightly, and give right decisions in the cause of the poor and those in need.- Proverbs 31:9 Whether this was based upon the officers prejudice or not, believers should always seek justice based upon Gods Word. Not based upon what the ethnicity of the offender or victim is. Bigotry and prejudice are real indeed (often disproportionately), but we must still- as Christians- respond with righteous indignation and a relentless pursuit of Gods justice. Prayers for the Garner family and for all impacted by this. The grand jury was definitely out of order in this case. This man should not have been choked to death on the suspicion of selling cigarettes. A gross injustice in my opinion. YOUR views? https://youtube/watch?v=En5linhM7Qo
