Breaking News: Edo state House of Assembly suspends the Speaker and the Majority leader. The suspension was moved by Hon. Ehigiamose and seconded by Hon. Iluobe. There were 12 members present in the chambers and proceedings was presided over by the deputy speaker, Hon. Ebea. #interesting UPDATE: There was confusion on Tuesday at the Edo State House of Assembly, after the Deputy Speaker, Festus Ebea and three other lawmakers who were suspended earlier on Monday, effected the suspension of the Speaker, Uyi Igbe, Majority Leader and six others. The four suspended members and eight others had on Tuesday morning broken through the entrance of the chambers, moved and adopted a motion for the suspension of the Speaker, Majority Leader and six others. Following the twist, a confrontation erupted between security agencies and some thugs, who tried to gain access into the Assembly Complex, with sounds of gunshots and teargas. Earlier, a group of PDP supporters had stormed the Nigerian Union of Journalists Press Centre in Benin to protest the suspension of the four legislators. The group alleged the suspension of the lawmakers was an infringement on their constitutional rights. Heavy security presence including the police, SSS and men of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps is currently at the premises of the Assembly Complex. This is democracy in action. APC led government has been inciting Edo people against the defected lawmakers and making unfounded and unsubstantiated allegations against them. Edo people today rejected the thug infested and law breaking government of Adams Oshiomole. Edo state deserves better. - EYEWITNESS REPORT
