#BreakingDownWeKeepMarching Track 3.Auzwe Feat Skhokho Obviouse This song was produced by Dome .I had a very bad tooth ache when I was lacing the first verse so I couldnt even pronounce some lines properly because of the pain so we spent close to 2 hours just recording the first verse .I hadnt met Skhokho as yet at the time .This was simply me laying a verse as the foundation of the song .Sometimes I use a flow as the core foundation or content/concept or chorus or I simply let the beat be the sore foundation and I go with where it takes me . I selected this beat on the strength that it was unique to where SA Hip Hop was at the time, this was in 2011 .We wanted to sound different to the sound that was out .Pro had just dropped Sekele 2 years back which used a kwaito sample .The Sekele beat was given to me back in 2006/2007 by Dome and at the time I was a bit skeptical using kwaito .Especially at the time I was underrated lyrically so dropping songs with more substance mattered more than anything to me at the point .So when hearing the Auzwe beat I was in a comfortable enough space to experiment with a kwaito sound .I was confident enough and it a better zone .The opening lines of the first verse go something like Im tryna make it from the LAND to the CLOUDS, from the RAND to the POUND,from my HOOD to a CROWD .This was my prophecy which Im yet to live,to travel the world ,to get exposure beyond those that know me and live comfortably .We making that statement talking to NOT just the hood but everybody . We shot a music video for this song which you can simply watch on You Tube . How it came about for Skhokho to be a part of the song ,we already had the idea for the chorus but we need a feel from kasi,a voice that sounded right .A voice that carried the specific weight for the song .It took me about 6 months to find the RIGHT person for the hook .I went to studio and found Skhokho there,Dome introduced us .I thought to myself Sh*t,this is that Lunch Bar Obvious guy .I had a little groupie moment but I tried NOT to show it .I had also recently seen him on the Nyeke Balunge music video by Spikiri and I love his charisma and energy .I knew this was the guy for the song .I pulled Dome to the side on some Mfana Skhokho is the right guy for Auzwe boy .Holla at him and I will break it down to him if his cool to jump on the joint .Dome hollad at Skhokho and he played him my verse .Skhokho loved it and he was sold .As he strated scripting,I quicklt left to the nearest spot to get a few cold ones just to set the mood for studio.....I was only gone for like 15min or so,when I got back Skhokho had already laced the hook......You should have seen the smile on my face .This was the song . We shot the video for the song in 2012 and finished a few shots in Jan 2013 and when I put it out there everyone was like...........Jay is now Kwaito,Jay is wack..........LOOK at what Hip Hop is now doing today .Check out the music video and tell me if you dont see similarities in some of the music videos that have come out since 2013. :-)
