. Brendan Tevlin, 19 years old, a Seton Hall Prep lacrosse player, a straight A student, and very involved in his church. He was driving his grandfathers Jeep Liberty, stopped at a red traffic light in West Orange,NJ when three men pulled up behind him. One of the men stayed behind the wheel while the other two hopped out and surrounded the Jeep around midnight on June 25,2014. Within moments, 10 shots were fired striking Tevlin eight times. One assailant pushed the dead body of the 19 year old to the passenger seat, drove to a parking lot and took all his personal items. Four days later, Cheyanne Bond, 17 years old, a recent graduate of Malcolm X Shabazz High School in Newark, an honor student and cheerleader, headed to Union County College to study nursing, was walking near Westside Park in Newark with a male friend when they were approached by two armed men who demanded they hand over an IPhone. Bonds friend was shot but managed to survive. Cheyanne Bond was forced to kneel by her killers and was shot in back of the head. They made her get on her knees and shot her in the back of the head. What kind of savages kill a 17 year old girl like that ? Four suspects have been arrested in the killing of the teens. The motive in both cases was robbery. The ages of the killers arrested are, 29, 19, 18, and 31. This is a tragic brutal murder that I wanted you to read because we are all concerned about the safety of our families and the brutal killings are all around us . Be extra careful when you go shopping at night, keep you children in groups and in constant touch with family members. Make sure your children attending and living at college are aware of all the safety measures and make sure they dont carry around expensive items on campus. My only hope is that the young members of our society are able to restore civilized living in our communities like the good old days. My only other wish is that these savage killers receive the death penalty.
