Brendon de Jonge had an outstanding start today in the Presidents Cup - he scored a 7 under 65. Unfortunately he was up against US opponents who dove tailed well and his partner Ernie Els was only 1 under on the day - so they lost by a narrow margin, 1 down. But the Internationals have had a good start under Captain Nick Price and are only 1 point behind the Americans after the first day. My heart swelled seeing the Zimbabwean flag flying proudly. Brendon de Jonge was one of the best players on the day. So what with his performance combined with the great leadership provided by Nick Price, Tony Johnstone and Mark McNulty it has been a great day for Zimbabwe. As I have said before we do not appear to appreciate just how much positive publicity this gives Zimbabwe. I hope the new Minister of Sport gets on the phone and congratulates these great patriots.
