“Brethren, even if anyone is caught in any trespass, you who are - TopicsExpress

“Brethren, even if anyone is caught in any trespass, you who are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; each one looking to yourself, so that you too will not be tempted.” Gal 6:1 Have you ever wondered what to do if “your brother sins” or is “caught in the act”? Well this verse is your answer. Last night I watched one of my favorite movies “My cousin Vinnie”. It has the “f bomb” in it. It was used to develop the characters and lifestyle of a culture in America. BUT it was not offensive to me. To some of the others that were with me, they found it offensive and stated so. In this case, is there a need to correct the language usage or look at the moral of the story and the difference in cultures of America? To me, the ruling thought is ‘to love people where they are”. So I look past the language and look at their hearts. Thus, if is one of my favorite movies. If there is a major “faux paux” or exposed sin, we should love them (the sinner) gently back into the proper way of living. “In a spirit of gentleness” by those “who are spiritual”… in some cases you need to separate from that person until that there has a change of heart. (repentance) This “turning” will be both to God and fellow men. It may take some time or it may be “instantaneous”… each situation is unique to itself.
