Brian update: Day 18. Wow. Last night was a zoo as CT Scan did not show need for aggressive ileus treatment in the ICU...but his CCU bed had been filled. Midnight bed shifts brought him back to CCU. Today, adjustments were made to medication regime. He tolerated sitting in chair a bit longer. Breakthrough AFib occurred early in the day. One of the chest tubes worked its way out for a bit of excitement. Chest X-rays are being done to see if reinsertion of second tube is needed. He still requires oxygen but breathing is not labored. Lab results show electrolytes are within normal limits. Area of concern is high white count. While his hemoglobin remains low, team is not alarmed given nature of trauma. As with many days following trauma, it is a dance of stepping forward and back. Thank you for prayers beyond measure. Peace.
