“Bricks” Believers scare me. Believers kill people - TopicsExpress

“Bricks” Believers scare me. Believers kill people “just because” and justify it with “theyre different.” Two words. Obliteration of human commonality, in two words. Like squishing a bug. From ones first instant, until the end, there is this choice: One can Believe, or one can understand. Understanding is the dance of the expanding mind. Belief is the blind, determined fruit of dictates planted in stony, shallow soil. Nothing is understood without looking. Blindness serves only the one who blinds, and his acolytes. Understanding brings freedom to move, perhaps with ease, perhaps at cost. It is the dance. Belief, is the goose-step. Blind Belief is a brick baked hard in the raging fires of authoritarianism, which demands adherence and brooks no variance. Obedience without question is the mortar which holds bricks, tightly in prescribed formation. And some prefer that way of life. I dont. Some like the ease of life that comes with never having to find the new answer. Bricks can be anchors in turbulent times. But they can drag you beneath the surface of the deep water and pin you there until you no longer breathe. From the first instant, until the end; there is the choice: One can Believe, or one can understand. I continue to try and build windows in empty space. And then to open them and climb out. --Graves 8/27/14 If you see this piece on Facebook, and if you like it, please do me the favor of hitting the “share” button so that others may enjoy it, too.
