Bridge Street in Linwood to become one-way for four months You are in Home » Services » Council and government » Council information, performance and statistics » News - recent releases As part of the Tesco Linwood construction project, a main road through the town will have restrictions put in place at the end of July, lasting for four months. On Monday 29 July Bridge Street, Linwood will become one way until Monday 11 November. Throughout the work programme, traffic will be able to travel northbound (into the town) along Bridge Street: From Kashmir Avenue (A761) onto Bridge Street, passed Napier Street, Hart Street and onto Bridge of Weir Road. Because traffic won’t be able to flow in the opposite direction (southbound) and leave the town via Bridge Street, Strathclyde Passenger Transport have to make some changes to the bus stops and the bus route out of Linwood. The following bus route diversion will be in place for buses leaving Linwood: After leaving the bus terminus at the top of Clippens Road, buses will turn left onto Erskinefauld Road and travel along to Greenfarm Road. They will travel down Greenfarm Road and turn right onto Bridge of Weir Road. They will travel along Bridge of Weir Road to the Clippens Roundabout, then left onto Kashmir Avenue (A761). This temporary diversion means busses won’t pick up on Clippens Road beside Our Lady of Peace Primary, but does mean passengers can still catch a bus to leave the town from Bridge of Weir Road (but on the other side of the road). There will be no change to the bus route coming into the town and SPT will set up a temporary bus stop for passengers wanting to leave the town on Kashmir Avenue near the Shell Garage and Health Centre. Mike Henderson from Barr Construction said: “We’d like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused. The traffic restrictions on Bridge Street will let us deliver some key parts of work for the Tesco Linwood development. Traffic flow along Bridge Street will be maintained at all times, but it will be northbound – and flowing into the town, with traffic looking to flow out of the town being diverted towards Kashmir Avenue.” The restrictions will allow a range of essential works to be delivered including new footpaths, drainage, road surfacing, street lighting works, road markings, and work on traffic islands. The traffic management works are being delivered Central Traffic Management on behalf of Kilmac Construction (who are working for Barr). Barr is the contractor responsible for delivering the overall development on behalf of Tesco. info from Renfrewshire Council
