Brilliant. Heard recently that MTV and Much Music are having trouble with viewership as music fans are turning to the internet for immediate results, tiring of waiting for their favorite songs to rotate. I remember growing up watching the beginnings of both networks and absolutely captivated by the curated environment they provided and the ingenuity of labels & bands in creating videos and moments that got inside your psyche (in a welcoming way). Watching this video reminds me of that spirit and makes me wonder where things shifted in the fairly recent timeline since this video was in rotation. We seemed to have much more patience and curiosity not long ago and wonderful surprises came of it. Not saying one situation is better than the other but wondering, out loud, what has changed? Are we growing weary of a curated playlist? Is the demise of MTV upon us? Am I getting old for even noting this?
