Briney Rigby competed in her first international event last week in Liuzhou in China. Briney competed in the 2nd round of the Eurofin Cup for Team Sweden. Her team went with no expectations for Briney who turned 16 in China as she was up against seasoned competitors from across the world. The F4-s class which Briney competes in has only just taken off in Australia and there are currently only two of these here with another 4 due to arrive soon and the races overseas are 22 laps and the most she has raced here is 4 laps. Briney qualified 4th for her first race and came off the dock in 3rd and raced her way into 2nd and thats where she finished with badly blistered hands showing the grit, determination and ability we know she has. In the 2nd race Briney qualified 2nd with the first place boat less than half a second faster than her. She drove another excellent race to finish 2nd which gained her 2nd overall and gives her 2nd in the points standing with three rounds to go. To see Briney proudly standing on the podium as the Australian flag was raised is a moment she and her team will never forget. Her next race is in Qatar on 15th November, Abu Dhabi on the 21st November and the final round in Sharjah on 19th December.
