Bristol Palin has chimed in on the case of Pastor Saeed, who is - TopicsExpress

Bristol Palin has chimed in on the case of Pastor Saeed, who is detained in an Iranian prison simply for his Christian faith. She alleges that Obama has left him behind in the nuclear negotiation deal. While I sympathize with pastor Saeed and all prisoners of conscience in Iran, I believe this post to be nothing but a partisan jab at the president. Here are some thoughts: 1. The Negotiations were done behind closed doors. It is unclear whether human rights issues were discussed or not. 2. The US was only one party among 5+1. Citing this out as singularly being Obamas failure is unfair. 3. Pastor Saeed is one of many prisoners of conscience, Christian or otherwise, in Iran. Discussing one particular high profile case without discussing overall human rights situation in Iran does not address the core of the problem. 4. Bristol and her mother have both been vocal critics of domestic lawmakers adding personal or state interest matters to bills thereby delaying or killing legislation. The purpose of Geneva talks was the nuclear issue not overall Iranian policy. Even with the myopic topic, only an interim agreement was reached. If this were a domestic issue , she would have taken issue with broadening of the topic.
