Bro. George W. Davis ST. CHARLES – Bro. George W. Davis, 77, Saturday, June 14, 2014 at VNA Charlier Hospice Center in Evansville, Ind. Born in Central City April 22, 1937, he was the son of the late William Oscar Davis and Naomi Pearl Devine Davis. He was a minister of the Gospel for more than 50 years. He was associate pastor at Refuge Worship Center in Nebo for 22 years. He retired from Speed Queen after 23 years. He was a ham radio operator and his call sign was KA4WGN. He enjoyed music and ministry was his life. He was devoted to God and his family. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Ann Neal Davis in 1983; a son-in-law, Mike Fisher; two sisters, Helen O’Neal and Juanita Russ; and a grandson, Brian Cain in 1992. Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Luci McGregor Davis; five sons, Billy (Mary) Davis of Owensboro, Timothy Wayne (Missy) Davis of Utica, and Jim (Diana) Alexander, David (Michelle) Alexander and Tim (Tina) Alexander, all of Boonville, Ind.; five daughters, Jane (Bro. Dave) Noffsinger of Clarksville, Tenn., Nancy Fisher and Marie (Doug) Cook, both of Central City, Cyndee (Willie) Durbin of Caneyville and Sharon (Troy) Hardin of Smiths Grove; a brother, Roy Wayne Davis of Hopkinsville; two sisters, Viola Erwin of Drakesboro and Anna Skenkman of Portland, Ore.; 25 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. June 18 at Refuge Worship Center in Nebo with Bro. Raymond Cummings, Bro. Larry Jamison and Bro James Parish officiating. Burial will follow in Gilland Ridge Cemetery in St. Charles. Visitation will be after 10 a.m. June 18 at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Refuge Worship Center. Barnett-Strother Funeral Home in Madisonville is in charge of arrangements.
