Broadchurch is a hauntingly beautiful show. The cinematography, score, and acting all blend seamlessly making it hard to distinguish where one ends and another begins. With all of them working so well in tandem, it really draws to light how much so many shows are lacking in this area. Every shot gives you the feeling that theres something more going on. Its both disorienting and intriguing, making you wonder what everyone is hiding, and who could possibly be behind the crime. Putting you directly into the mindset of the main character in thinking anyone is capable of this, given the right circumstances, and wondering what each characters true motivations are. Its a slow build, and almost seems boring at first, but once you are pulled into the town, and the characters lives, each one is so interesting in its own right, that individually theyre worth examining. By the end you come to realize that it was worth every moment to get to this point. Every misleading suspicion, not a red herring, but instead a look at that suspicion and how it impacts people and a community. Great first series, and i cant wait to see what more the show has in store.
