Brock Niagara Swimmers Show Their Stuff 12 & under LC Western Ontario Regional Championships The culmination of a lot of time in the pool and some very hard work this season was the amazing showing of the 12 and under, Brock Niagara swimmers at the long course regional championships this past weekend at McMaster University. After qualifying throughout the spring season, twenty-six of Brock Niagara’s super stars competed in the two day event in Hamilton, June 23-24, 2013. Highlights Peyton didn’t give anyone else a chance as he swept the breaststroke events; 50, 100 and 200 metre races. Three gold medals for 9 year old Peyton Kipp( Niagara Falls). 12 year old Sierra Spence (Lincoln) took one of each medal in the girl’s breaststroke events; gold in 50 Breast, silver in 200 Breast and bronze in 100 Breast. Bohr Deng (Niagara Falls) excelled in backstroke this meet, winning gold in the 100 Back, bronze in the 50 Back, fourth place in the 200 Back and then adding another silver medal in the 100 freestyle. All round great swimmer, Chelsea Spence (Lincoln), went out fast and furious in a variety of strokes and distances. Three bronze medals for Chelsea in 100 back, 50 fly and 200 individual medley, as well as a fourth place finish in the 200 back and fifth in the 100 freestyle. Paje Brennan (Niagara Falls) is a breaststroke swimmer to watch out for; Paje took 4 seconds off her 50 breaststroke time to place fourth and then finished in fifth place in the 100 breast, knocking 5.5 sec from her entry time. Amazing Paje!!! Another breaststroker extraordinaire, 11 year old, Lea Formicuccia (St. Catharines) swam a personal best time in the 100 breaststroke and won the bronze medal and had a strong fifth place finish in the 200 Breast. A great showing from a couple of our up and coming young swimmers. Eleven year old Jeremy Tang (St. Catharines) finished 6th in the 100 breaststroke and nine year old Ben Leighton (NOTL), took six seconds of his best time in the 200 freestyle and finished in 6th place.
