Broken-down boat leads to arrest Vessel was allegedly stolen By Buster Thompson CRYSTAL RIVER — A boater’s call for help landed him in jail when the assisting U.S. Coast Guard informed local authorities that the broken-down boat was reported stolen from Fort Myers. Robert Lee Murray, 32, was arrested Monday morning after the boat he allegedly stole in Fort Meyers broke down on its way to Pete’s Pier in Crystal River, according to the arrest affidavit. The Lakeland man was charged with the boat theft, along with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) assisted the Coast Guard in validating and eventually impounding the stolen vessel. chronicleonline/content/broken-down-boat-leads-arrest?pc=1 #citruscountychronicle #robertleemurray
