No village, town, factory or organisation in Nottinghamshire remained untouched by the events that were to unfold across Europe and artefacts from local people paint a vivid picture of the true impact of war. Alicia Foster WARPAINT DATE/TIME: Fri 30 May (1pm) VENUE: Bromley House Library PRICE: FREE – Tickets required SUITABLE FOR: 12+ RUNNING TIME: Approx. 1 hr Alicia Foster discusses her new novel, Warpaint. In it four women’s lives collide as they create propaganda in WWII’s darkest hour. From painting ‘Black’ propaganda to demoralise the enemy to conjuring up the bulldog spirit, each artist is involved in the war effort and must ask herself what truths and what lies they are prepared to tell. ‘In a plot full of twists, turns, double crossing and espionage, this whip-smart thriller, loosely based on real events, has great characters, authentic detail, poignancy and black comedy’ — Sunday Mirror They are free events and open to the public.
