Brooklyn has been discharged from hospital after a series of follow up blood tests and clinically looking so much better. They have started her on cyclosporine and increased her dose of steroids to start the journey on this new treatment. Although the coincidental reaction that Brooklyn had on the biologic, the doctor says we will need to try it again, or look at another, in about 2 months in order to get the arthritis under control. Its become a little more complicated since being here in Cape Town because were now also treating a variation of HLH called MAS, which is caused by Juvenile Arthritis. Hence the biologics. The last week has been emotionally charged because it felt (a) like we could have lost her a week ago, and (b) like we were back to square one right in the beginning with the fevers, rash and everything else.
