Brothers and Sisters, I went witnessing yesterday around the city and posed two questions to people I met. What did they think of Jesus and what did they think of Christians? As I asked one woman, around her mid 20’s or so, these questions, she replied with…”Oh…you’re one of those people.” I replied. “Yes I am.” Then she said. “I don’t associate with hateful, homophobic genocidal maniacs.” I thought for a moment and replied. “I forgot to tell you that I’m not a Communist.” She was more than annoyed and started walking off. “I’m not your enemy. I hope you have a wonderful remaining day.” She turned around and gave me her reply. Forgive me my friends…..”*** You!” She snapped. Earlier in the day I engaged a 16 year old self proclaimed atheist girl on Facebook. The conversation finally got down to her parents, both professing Christians and how they treated their daughter. “They treat me like shit.” She said. “They preached that shit down my throat! Said I would go to hell!” Sigh…. Friends. We live very much in a post Christian world, it is so evident in the children and in many under 30 years old. Christ is no longer tolerated in the places of learning, and it shows. He is no longer taught at home or not very well, that shows. And we have been losing the young for years because the faith as a whole has performed pathetically against the influences of this sin driven and lost world, and that shows. Between Godless teachers away from home and inexperienced Christian parents at home with many so called “Religious faiths” causing chaos in the minds of growing youth, no wonder the name of Jesus can cause so much displeasure. Those of the truth faith of Christ have to work harder, not sit on their butts expecting to get into heaven while they surf the web or suck down the latest reality show. We have to overcome and overwhelm the so called “Religious” faiths like the Catholics, the Lutherans, the Baptists and the Mormons who are usurping Gods word and sewing murder from their lips. We have to get the fractured church back to the basics, away from polluting ideology and stop the spread of hate and condemning tones that are driving people from Christ. We have to rethink teaching at home and how Christian parents are not standing up as they should to attack and assault the Godless people in the public schools. It’s time to take the fight to their faces. Most important my friends, we have to reach out to young atheist children and teens and fight the empty theology that is dragging them to a pitiless, empty life. If we don’t stop the slide of Christ in the young, we will lose hundreds of thousands who deserve to be saved. We must do it, not act it. In Jesus name we pray…..Amen.
