Brought in by his owner to Brooklyn ACC because of illness in the family, it turns out that young Rocky hasn’t had such a great life. An outside dog all his life, he never the less is reported to be friendly and has lived w. other dogs, friendly to children and strangers. But once he got stuck in a crate, Rocky really had a hard time adjusting to this new world—a world where you’re confined 24 x7, where nobody knows you, and where other dogs bark constantly in the distance. He was found to be in good health and was cooperative during his medical exam. Of course, he’s caught the shelter cold already! Rocky had mixed reactions during his behavioral exam. On one hand he loved the tag game, had no problem with the look and squeeze but was not very happy when that weird hand tried to take his food. Rocky is used to guarding his gravy train (his previous diet)! And when a strange dog came in the room, he really didn’t know what to make of it and mustered up all his bravado to make it go away and stop intruding on his tag game. Rocky is not a dog for everyone. He needs an experienced owner who understands that at 1 ½ years old, he is so teachable and that the big puppy in him so wants some positive attention and rewards! But ACC has given up on young Rocky and he’s on tomorrow morning’s list. Rocky needs to find that special person who sees what potential he’s got; who’s willing to spend the time and the energy to make him the wonderful dog he wants to be. Are you that person? Speak up now to foster or adopt him—tomorrow will be too late for Rocky!
