Brunei Times Lack of infrastructure limits bandwidth delivery:TelBru BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN Tuesday, January 20, 2015 TELEKOM Brunei (TelBru) has advised customers residing in areas where Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) is not yet served to subscribe to the lower bandwidth plans. “Customers can apply for the service subject to the availability of the infrastructure in their respective areas,” TelBru said. TelBru issued this statement yesterday in response to queries from customers regarding bandwidth limitation in areas with no FTTH infrastructure. TelBru said it’s upgrading the current FTTH infrastructure to provide these areas with High Speed Broadband (HSBB) services. TelBru said that at the moment, the company isTimesading the FTTH infrastructure in Jerudong and Sengkurong. The company said the FTTH infrastructure in Kuala Belait, Mumong, Seria and Rimba will be ready by the second quarter of this year. TelBru said infrastructure works in Madewa and Salar are scheduled to be completed by the third quarter, while that of Sg Tarin and Sg Liang will be ready by the fourth quarter. TelBru is encouraging customers to visit https://telbru.bn/hsbb-areas to check if their areas are HSBB ready. In its new pricing plan issued last week, TelBru said it’s offering low bandwidth plans with data cap. If the quota is reached, its speed will be throttled to 20 per cent of the subscribed plan.–Izzan Kassim The Brunei Times
