Bubble Soccer Jasper and I played bubble soccer. The Name is the Game. Put on big plastic bubbles and attempt to kick a soccer ball. It’s a ton of fun. Mostly, you just bounce off friend or foe, pick yourself up off the ground, and do it all again. Here’s the 3-step strategy to win at bubble soccer: 1. Think more football, less soccer. Divide your team into an offensive line and strikers. Job of the O-line is to knock the other team over and to forget about the ball. When you have an odd number of people on your team, put the extra body on the O-line. Strikers focus on scoring and on avoiding the other team. 2. Strikers: Forget long passes. The field is too small, and it’s too hard for people to elegantly run to catch long passes. Think lots of dribbling and short one touch passes (“tiki-taka”) 3. Bubble soccer is about knocking people over. A trick: When someone comes charging at you, drop to your knees as fast as possible. Sir Isaac Newton will take care of the rest. Caroline and Rebecca : Remember during bar study in Durham when you thought Jasper and I were doing serious gym workouts? Truth revealed: We were bubble soccer prepping. Just like bar prepping, except with bubble plastic, soccer balls, and no legal questions at all. Ben, James, Delfosse, Andrea, Matt, Erica, and Robert - we should have figured this out first, living in Australia and playing ball, many moons ago.
