(Buffalo, NY 6/12/13) – Erie County Republican Chairman Nicholas A. Langworthy made the following statement following Governor Cuomo’s visit to Buffalo today calling for taxpayer funded political campaigns: “With very few days left in the legislative session, Governor Andrew Cuomo is attempting to push through a package of laws that will spend your hard earned tax dollars to fund politicians’ campaigns. He claims this will clean up Albany. The Governor is kidding himself if he honestly believes this type of law will stop corruption. We have seen the rampant corruption that this wrong-headed policy has led to in New York City with several politicians being arrested just this year. It has increased corruption with dirty politicians manipulating the system just to get their hands on taxpayer matching funds. Under Cuomo’s plan, politicians win and taxpayers lose,” stated Langworthy... “If Governor Cuomo really wanted to clean up Albany he would work to eliminate the nucleus of corruption there, Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver..."
