Buhari Pro-Jonathan group set to dump president for Buhari 0 BY OUR REPORTER ON JANUARY 10, 2015 POLITICS ■ Ex-Head of state sends emissary FROM GODWIN TSA, ABUJA A pro- Jonathan support group under the auspices of PDP Project Re-loaded is now set to defect to the campaign train of All Progressives Congress [APC] presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari. The PDP group, which is chaired by former Deputy Senate President, Alhaji Ibrahim Mantu, also has Chief Richard Lamai, its national coordinator. The National Coordinator of the group, Lamai, gave the hint during a visit by some members of the APC led by a former member of the House of Representatives and Kogi West APC senatorial candidate, Otunba Dino Melaye to woo them to join Buhari’s campaign team. A source at the meeting informed journalists that arrangements have been concluded by the aggrieved members of the PDP group who are not happy with the outcome of the last primaries to join APC and the Buhari’s team. “Our move to join didn’t start today; there have been series of meetings and telephone calls between Lamai and the state coordinators of the group on one hand and the top echelon of APC on the other”, the source stated. Responding to the call, Lamai said he was going to convoke an emergency meeting of the leadership of the group to deliberate on the request. Lamai said, “For us in PDP Reloaded, what concerns us is the sanctity of life. Insurgency in the North East has raised a lot of issues in the hearts of all. The insurgency doesn’t know any party, whether PDP or APC. We need to put a stop to hunger, insurgency and unemployment. “As for your call on us to join APC to effect a positive change that is required to rescue Nigeria, PDP Reloaded is not a one-man group. But I believe that they will listen to me. I will take your gospel for effective democracy to them. Give my regards to Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun (APC national chairman) and the people of Kogi West. I will call an urgent meeting of all state coordinators. We require a change. I will bring back an answer to you in a few days time. “We have 37 state coordinators and we are about 5 million members, spread across all the 774 LGAs. With this kind of number, it is not an easy task to give an answer. I need to get across to them and we will get back to you in a couple of days. I have always called for change in the areas of unemployment, bad roads and insecurity. But we need a change in different areas. We need credible leadership in Nigeria. We need to put an end to insurgency, unemployment, looting and others.”
