Building Tomorrow, Today To Our Fellow Citizens of the CNMI: We are excited to announce our candidacy for the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Governor and Lt. Governor. We have had the honor of meeting, discussing, and working, alongside our island communities from all backgrounds and neighborhoods to find common ground and creative solutions for the biggest challenges facing our Commonwealth. Good governance starts with bringing people together. By building coalitions and bringing out consensus, we pledge to deliver results. We pledge our full commitment to bringing all the disparate parties together and working to achieve sensible economic and social policies. Balance here is key but what constitutes balance is contested on all sides. We won’t make everyone happy every time but we will listen and we will seek to find the best and fairest way forward. In many respects, the Commonwealth needs strong and bold leadership to continue to build and prosper by encouraging many kinds of innovation and by joining with other states and nations in our region. We are committed to obtaining at least one third of our electricity from renewable sources along with better land use, saving our pension system, encourage job creation, and to encourage our highly educated sons and daughters to return to the Commonwealth. In all these endeavors, it is our goal to foster a vibrant island community and a sustainable environment by Building Tomorrow, Today with effective leadership bringing our community into the 21st century. Without any hesitation—we can say that we are prepared and excited to tackle the current challenges and the many others that lay before us. We love our community and will do our utmost to enable the CNMI to reflect the faith of her past and pave the way for a future as bold as our forebears would expect. We would be honored to count on your support as we work together to make our community a better place for all. Thank you and may God bless you. Respectfully, Juan Nekai Babauta and Juan Sablan Torres
