Building Trust Between Police & Communities in Minneapolis With support from BJA, the Police Executive Research Forum (PERF) is examining trust-building between police and communities experiencing violent crime. In partnership with Chief Harteau and Minneapolis Police Department officers, PERF has worked closely with the Cedar-Riverside Community to reduce violent crime and improve police/community relations. Though PERF’s 3-year study is not completed, preliminary indications are the problem-based violence reduction strategies and community trust-building efforts implemented in the Cedar-Riverside community have had significant results, which we believe will lead to a national model other cities can implement.
