Burger King terminating its lease at downtown #Barrie bus terminal. Will put out in 2015. What else do you think should go there? No more fries with that at Barries bus station in 2015. Burger King has told the city its terminating the lease for ground floor space at the station, effective Dec. 31, 2014. The fast-food restaurants exit could cost the city $85,000 in annual rent. City staff wont look at getting a new tenant there until the downtown market feasibility study is complete, and goes to city council, expected in the first quarter next year. At this market, independent merchants would sell fresh produce, baked goods, meat, dairy, hand-crafted items, clothing, etc. It would differ from a farmers market, which already exists at Barrie City Hall on Saturday mornings, in that its permanent and also offers performance spaces, meeting or class rooms, patios, restaurants, cafes, etc. It would also discourage franchise businesses and instead cater to locally owned and operated businesses. The feasibility study for the market will identify a business plan, the projects financial viability and planning details of its size, location and the operating model. Source: Barrie Examiner
